Job summary

Roane County Board of Education is seeking a Bus Supervisor to assist students on the bus, supervise small groups, and help with boarding and safety procedures. The role requires a high school diploma and appropriate certifications or eligibility for Aide classification, with English fluency and physical capability for the job.

Responsibilities include aiding students with belts, operating lift equipment, maintaining records, and following health and safety plans.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist students boarding/deboarding and secure seating/belts.
• Supervise individual students or small groups on the bus.
• Assist with bus lift equipment.
• Maintain records and perform cleanup tasks.
• Perform required activities with IEP/504/health plans as needed.
• Demonstrate good personal hygiene and reliability.
• Attend required training and professional development.

Supervisor: Director of Transportation

Qualifications

High school diploma;

Currently hold or previously held classification of Aide, or passage of state competency exam for Aide

ability to use oral and written English fluently;

ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions;

ability to perform the physical activity required with specialized program;

relevant first aid/CPR and bus training; relevant bus and specialized health procedures training as needed for assigned students.

Must be able to lift 50lbs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist students in getting on and off the bus and assist students with fastening of seat belts or restraining devices.

Supervise individual students or small groups of children while on the bus.

Assist with bus lift equipment.

Assist with record keeping and clean up tasks.

Perform physical activities with students as required with applicable IEP, 504 plan, health care plan, or SAT plan.

Maintain positive work habits.

Perform duties efficiently and productively.

Participate in-service and/or other related training programs to maintain or upgrade skills.
