Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Medical Transport – Utilize EMT clinical skills, medical terminology, and ORC Emergency Vehicle Operation laws to transport patients.
  • Independently assess department needs and respond within EMT scope of practice.
  • Maintain an active driver’s license and keep driving record points below 5.
  • Maintain current national registry, Ohio, and Kentucky EMT certifications.
  • Keep a clear record of incidents for a CCHMC vehicle.
  • Submit all fuel slips and required documentation per standard operating procedure.
  • Demonstrate compliance with physical requirements (lifting, pushing, carrying up to 150lbs).
  • Safety – Foster an environment that prevents accidents, illness, and injury, and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Assure crew, family, and patients adhere to safety requirements while in a moving vehicle.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, accessible, effective, and efficient work environment for patients, families, and coworkers.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment and other hazards immediately.
  • Anticipate changes in needs based on patient volume.
  • Ensure proper working conditions for patient care and unit equipment.
  • Communication – Promote open and timely communication with all healthcare team members, patients, family members, and visitors.
  • Report to nursing staff any change in observable patient response.
  • Respond promptly to requests by patients, families, and employees.
  • Participate in improving organizational performance through recommendations, new procedures, data collection, and departmental input.
  • Maintain and respect confidentiality of patient, family, and employee information.
  • Discuss work concerns with the director or designee.
  • Confidentiality – Act to protect patient/family personal medical and financial information at all times during collection, use, and storage; access only information necessary to perform responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of work experience in a related discipline.
  • Current Ohio EMT‑Basic or equivalent certification.
  • Obtain Kentucky EMT‑Basic certificate within 6 months of hire.
  • Obtain National Registered EMT within 6 months of hire.
  • Current driver’s license with a good driving record (points not to exceed 5).
  • Current CPR certification.
