Job description

Job Title: Transport Specialist

Supervised By: Founder

This position involves performing duties according to established policies, procedures, and legal guidelines. Responsibilities may vary based on needs and priorities, as defined by the Founder or designee.

Purpose

The Transport Specialist assists Elderwheels in providing safe transportation for elderly clients, utilizing relevant healthcare background without providing therapy or medical advice. A current or inactive/retired licensure as a Rehabilitation/Therapy professional (PTA, COTA, OT, PT) or a CNA may be eligible.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Road-based duties: Communicate with clients, maintain vehicle cleanliness, safely transfer clients, secure belongings, adjust vehicle environment, drive safely, assist clients at facilities, handle payments, uphold privacy and ethics, communicate via social media, report incidents, coordinate with staff, document hours, and contribute to community outreach.
Minimum Requirements

Education & Training: Degree from an accredited program (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing). Knowledge of growth and development across age groups.

Licensing & Certification: Valid Texas license as a PT, PTA, OT, COTA, or nurse, with a valid Texas Driver's License and insurance.

Experience: At least 5 years serving adults in care settings; home care experience preferred.

Skills & Abilities: CPR certification, interpersonal and organizational skills, independent work capability, clinical skills, safe driving knowledge, safety techniques.

Physical Demands: Ability to lift and transfer clients, operate vehicle ramps, perform physical tasks, and communicate effectively, with flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and adapt to schedule changes.
