Qualifications

  • Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements or Travel Plans.
  • Understanding UK transport planning principles and policy.
  • Experience with junction capacity modelling or transport modelling software.
  • Strong analytical, report-writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare TA, TS and Travel Plans for development proposals.
  • Carry out transport and traffic analyses to support schemes.
  • Perform junction capacity assessments with modelling tools.
  • Support traffic modelling and feasibility studies.
  • Produce technical reports and planning documentation.
  • Liaise with authorities, clients and project stakeholders.
  • Support projects from inception through to completion.
  • Collaborate with highways, planning and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to innovative and sustainable transport solutions.

The Opportunity

We are working with a leading transport planning consultancy in London who are looking to appoint a Transport Planner to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Transport Planner looking to develop their technical and consultancy experience, working on a diverse range of projects across London and the wider UK.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced transport professionals, gaining exposure to a variety of development and infrastructure projects while continuing to build your career within a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy.

The Role

As a Transport Planner, you will be involved in:

  • Preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
  • Undertaking transport and traffic analysis to support development proposals.
  • Carrying out junction capacity assessments using relevant modelling software.
  • Assisting with traffic and transport modelling and analysis.
  • Undertaking parking assessments and accessibility studies.
  • Producing technical reports and supporting planning documentation.
  • Liaising with local authorities, clients, developers and other project stakeholders.
  • Supporting the delivery of transport planning projects from inception through to completion.
  • Working closely with highways, planning and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contributing to the development of innovative and sustainable transport solutions.
About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience within a transport planning consultancy, local authority or similar environment.
  • Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and/or Travel Plans.
  • A good understanding of UK transport planning principles and relevant policy.
  • Experience with junction capacity modelling and/or transport modelling software.
  • Strong analytical, report-writing and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively to deadlines.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to develop technically and professionally.
  • Good commercial awareness and an interest in developing client-facing skills.

Experience with software such as Junctions 10, LinSig, VISSIM, ArcGIS/QGIS or AutoCAD would be advantageous, although training can be provided where required.
