Job summary

SLR Consulting is seeking a Principal Transport Planner to lead a diverse portfolio of UK transport planning projects from our Bristol team. You will drive technical direction, client engagement and project profitability while mentoring colleagues across Planning, Environmental and Engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience delivering UK transport planning projects within a consultancy or similar environment.
  • Relevant degree (or higher) and professional membership (e.g. MCIHT or similar).
  • Strong project delivery, leadership and client management skills.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and client development ability.
  • Technical expertise in transport planning and appraisal.
  • Experience with JUNCTIONS and LINSIG (desirable).
  • Strong reporting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Use professional judgement to develop effective and practical solutions.
  • Deliver Vision-Led Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel Plans.
  • Build client relationships and support fee proposals.
  • Lead client engagement with support from the wider team.
  • Manage project performance and profitability.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policy, legal and technical changes.
  • Mentor team members and provide technical guidance.
