Job summary

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a full-time Transport Driver in Phoenix. Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 6:30 AM–12:00 PM. Join a team dedicated to animal welfare and high-quality care at our Papago Park Campus.

As a Transport Driver you will move adoptable animals between locations, assist with related tasks, and support shelter operations while meeting safety and medical criteria. Requirements include a high school diploma, valid AZ driver’s license, and clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
• Ability to pass background and drug screening as an AHS driver.

Animal Transport Driver

A Day in the Life

As a Transport Driver, you are an integral part of shelter operations and are responsible for safely and thoughtfully transporting animals to and from off-site adoption locations, shelter facilities, and media/adoption events. You will help determine the movement of adoptable animals while ensuring the behavioral and medical criteria of each location and kennel is met. You will provide additional assistance to shelter personnel as needed, including but not limited to transportation of animals to non-AHS facilities, delivery of mail, and delivery of supplies.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma/GED
• Valid Arizona driver's license
• Must be 21 years of age
• One year of prior work experience
• Experience with animal handling is preferred
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• All Transport positions are required to drive AHS vehicles and are designated as safety sensitive. Candidates must have an acceptable driving record and ability to pass drug and background screening to be insured as an AHS driver.

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to drive vehicles, stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to a height of 4 feet. There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Typical work environment will be out of the office, driving a truck in a safe manner, working in the field.
