Job summary

UNC Health Care System in Chapel Hill seeks a Registered Nurse for 5 West, Abdominal Transplant/Urology/Plastic Surgery. 36 hours per week with 12-hour night shifts. Full-time with benefits and incentives.

The unit performs complex transplant and urology/plastic procedures, recognized for excellence and Beacon Award honors. Responsibilities include delivering competent nursing care, coordinating patient care with a multidisciplinary team, and participating in education, planning, and discharge

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• One (1) year of nursing experience.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.

Responsibilities

• Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self.
• Evaluation of Care - Identifies expected patient outcomes and revises plan of care as needed.
• Implementation - Delivers care for patients with complex problems and prioritizes tasks.
• Leadership - Promotes professional growth, teamwork, and cost-effective care.
• Patient Assessment - Assesses data to determine care priorities and discharge planning needs.
• Planning - Collaborates to update the plan of care with multidisciplinary resources.
• Research - Reads journals and brings ideas to staff for assessment.
