Job summary

BJC HealthCare is seeking an Insurance Authorization Coordinator to support the transplant team. The role involves contacting insurance companies and navigating portals to obtain authorizations, with a preference for EPIC experience.

The position focuses on ensuring accurate benefit, pre-certification, and pre-authorization information before care is provided, aligning with the transplant program’s needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in insurance follow-up (<2 years).

Responsibilities

• Investigate and determine benefits, pre-certification, and pre-authorization status across multiple platforms.
• Communicate with insurance companies and patients about requirements and status to secure authorization prior to service.
• Answer calls and direct issues; verify receipt of authorizations and keep them current.
• Assist clerical and clinical teams with benefits, pre-authorization, and re-authorization requirements.
• Communicate benefit/authorization issues promptly to staff to avoid delays in patient care.
• Enter benefit information accurately into the patient chart.
• Monitor and complete work queues for authorizations and benefits as directed by the Lead Coordinator.
