Job summary

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, TX is seeking a Transplant Financial Counselor to coordinate financial resources for transplant and/or VAD patients, ensuring financial readiness and continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Strong financial counseling expertise and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication with patients and families regarding insurance and costs.
• Experience in transplantation-related financial processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Obtains detailed patient insurance benefit information; medical management and transplant.
• Discusses benefits and other financial issues with patients and/or family members during initial evaluation.
• Advises patients on insurance and billing issues and options; serves as a financial resource for patients and families.
• Coordinates payer authorizations and documents financial information in the EMR.
• Monitors and updates insurance data, physicians, authorizations and managed care contracting.
• Assists patients and families with questions concerning insurance and other financial issues.
