Job summary

Somnia Anesthesia, affiliated with Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, is seeking an experienced Transplant Anesthesiologist to join a premier transplant program. The role focuses on liver, kidney, and pancreas transplantation within a collaborative, physician-led ACT model alongside surgeons, hepatologists, nephrologists, and intensivists.

The ideal candidate will have substantial transplant anesthesia experience, ACGME residency, and Tennessee licensure eligibility.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with board certification/eligibility in Anesthesiology
• ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency completed
• Experience providing anesthesia for liver, kidney, and/or pancreas transplantation or complex hepatobiliary procedures
• Demonstrated ability to manage high-acuity transplant patients and perioperative resuscitation
• Eligible for Tennessee Medical Licensure; DEA Registration; BLS/ACLS

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia for liver, kidney, pancreas, and other abdominal transplant procedures
• Manage patients with end-stage liver disease, end-stage renal disease, portal hypertension, and complex multisystem disease
• Direct intraoperative hemodynamic management using invasive monitoring and vasoactive infusions
• Lead perioperative management of massive transfusion and coagulopathy during transplant procedures
• Collaborate with transplant surgeons, hepatologists, nephrologists, intensivists, and care teams throughout perioperative care
• Participate in perioperative planning for transplant recipients and complex surgical patients
• Deliver high-quality patient care in a high-acuity academic transplant environment
• Document anesthesia care per Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare and Somnia standards
