The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is seeking a Project Manager to assist with the management of a major highway construction program in the RPG-1 Lowcountry region. Under supervision, you will help direct multiple projects, ensure schedules are met, and monitor program funds.
You will participate in the Project Development Process, coordinate with local CTCs, assist in consultant contracts, and communicate with stakeholders in person and by correspondence.
Under the supervision of the Program Manager and Sr. Assistant Program Manager in the CHATS/BCDCOG region in RPG-1 Lowcountry, assists with the management of major highway construction program consisting of multiple projects. Management of program includes directing the development of multiple projects, compliance with project schedules, and monitoring financial resources of program. Assists in development of C-Program projects and coordinates with local CTC's.
Program/Project Development Process: Assists the Sr. Assistant Program Manager and begins to work independently on assigned projects within all aspects of the Project Development Process.
Project Budget & Funding: Assists the Sr. Assistant Program Manager and begins to work independently to ensure that programmed obligation dates and funds are consistent with fiscal year commitments in the STIP.
Manages Project Schedules: Establishes preliminary project schedules for each project. Meets with others to resolve any schedule delays.
Project Stakeholder Communication & Public Interaction: Represents SCDOT in an informative, courteous manner in all correspondence and in-person meetings. Communicates effectively with others.
Initiates & Monitors Utility Coordination: Assists in Utility Coordination with the Utility Coordinator and State Utility Engineer at various stages of project development.
Consultant Service Contracts: Assists in Consultant Contract preparation.
Administrative/Other Tasks: Performs other related duties as requested by the Lead PM and Sr. Assistant PM within the time frame communicated.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and three (3) years of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. May require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal business hours or respond to emergency situations.
