Join to apply for the Transmission Planning & Studies Engineer - Senior Level role at POWER Engineers.

Power Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior-level Transmission Planning Engineer. This position is posted in multiple POWER office locations with the ability to work remotely from a mutually acceptable location. The selected candidate may work remotely full-time at a location other than a POWER-designated office/job site, with periodic travel to a POWER office for meetings.

Roles And Responsibilities

This role requires significant experience in network studies for utilities and ISOs, with leadership capabilities. Responsibilities include interfacing with engineers to prepare models and perform power system studies such as feasibility, system impact, reactive compensation, stability, planning, short circuit, load flow, interconnection modeling, and power factor correction.

The engineer should have experience in proposal writing, customer contact, and developing new opportunities. Strong self-management, communication, and organizational skills are essential to explain complex technical issues to decision-makers and project teams.

Required Education/Experience
  • BSEE
  • 10+ years in transmission planning system studies
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Minimum 6 years experience with PSS/E
  • PE registration or equivalent
  • Experience leading projects and mentoring
  • Familiarity with ERCOT and interconnection processes
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%
  • Ability to work in a customer-focused, project-oriented environment
Desired Education/Experience
  • MSEE or PhD
  • 10+ years experience with PSS/E
  • Familiarity with other RTOs and interconnection processes
  • Additional software skills: PSLF, TARA, PSCAD, Aspen Oneliner, ETAP, Power World
  • Coding and automation experience

Base Salary Range: $125k - $180k. Salaries are determined based on experience and qualifications, excluding additional compensation like bonuses or benefits.
