Job description

Join to apply for the Transmission Planning & Studies Engineer - Junior Level role at POWER Engineers.

This position is posted in multiple office locations with the ability to work remotely from a mutually acceptable location (please specify your preferred location in the application).

Roles and Responsibilities

This individual will be responsible for interfacing with other engineers in the preparation of computer-based models and performing power system studies on utility transmission/distribution systems and industrial/commercial electrical power systems, including:

  • Feasibility studies
  • System impact studies
  • Reactive compensation studies
  • Protective relay settings
  • Critical clearing time
  • Stability (transient & dynamic)
  • Long/short range planning studies
  • Short circuit, load flow, motor starting, power factor correction, and other related studies

This person must be able to self-manage, with strong conceptualization, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills—capable of explaining complex technical issues to decision-makers and project teams.

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • Two or more years of experience in electrical engineering system studies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including proposal and report writing
  • Experience with PSSE, PSLF, or similar software
  • Experience with TARA steady-state analysis (preferred)
  • Willingness to travel (10% or more)
  • Ability to work in a customer-focused, project-oriented environment
Desired Education/Experience
  • EIT registration (or equivalent)
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE)
  • Experience with EMT software (a plus)

Base salary range: $65,000 - $80,000, based on experience and qualifications. Salaries are complemented by additional benefits such as bonuses, health benefits, and retirement contributions.
