Job summary

PSEG Long Island is seeking a Transmission Planning Engineer to lead planning for the LIPA transmission system from 23kV through 345kV and coordinate with NYISO and NPCC. The role offers collaboration on regulatory matters, system studies, and innovative technology integration in a hybrid work environment.

You will analyze, design, and optimize transmission projects while ensuring reliability and compliance with NERC standards. A strong engineering background and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of two (2) years of relevant engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, planning, and project coordination skills.
• Adaptable, self-motivated, and results-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Conduct complex power system design studies (load flow, short circuit, and stability) and financial analyses to ensure BES compliance.
• Recommend cost-effective transmission plans to meet reliability requirements and serve load.
• Perform near-term seasonal operating studies and system operating limit analyses.
• Conduct long-range transmission studies and capital construction programs.
• Participate in NYISO planning, compliance and interconnection processes and task forces.
