Job summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a Transmission Planning Engineer to help design and evaluate high‑voltage transmission systems, ensuring reliability and compliance with NERC/WECC standards. The role emphasizes leading studies, collaborating across teams, and delivering robust planning outputs for grid evolution.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years of transmission experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency with PI, EMS/SCADA, and power-flow tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
2+ years direct experience in transmission modeling, engineering and/or planning.
Project management and leadership skills.
Knowledge of NERC/WECC reliability standards.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
Proficient with PI, EMS/SCADA, Visio and MS Office.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, modify, and evaluate transmission systems to meet company objectives and reliability standards.
Develop complex engineering studies, plans, specs, calculations, evaluations, and performance assessments.
Lead outside engineering services and manage project budgets/timelines.
Coordinate with neighboring utilities on planning studies for interconnected facilities.
Prepare annual NERC compliance screening studies.
