Here’s The Role

Are you ready to make a significant impact on a rapidly growing power grid? Join LCRA’s Transmission Planning team as a Planning Engineer. Play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the transmission system. As an Electrical Engineer specializing in power systems, you will work with a team conducting detailed engineering studies using innovative analysis tools. You will plan transmission projects that will build the future of the LCRA TSC and ERCOT transmission systems. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to explore solutions for integrating new technologies, including large data centers, renewable generation resources, and 765-kV infrastructure development.

How You’ll Contribute
  • Work with project teams to build, coordinate, and complete transmission projects in compliance with engineering standards and timelines.
  • Support Regulatory Compliance activities, including preparation and development of Texas PUC CCN applications for new transmission projects.
  • Engage in ERCOT, EPRI, NERC, and NATF working groups on industry-changing efforts such as voltage performance, thermal loading, and generation deliverability.
  • Act as authority on NERC Reliability Standards such as TPL-001, FAC-002, CIP-014, and MOD-026/027.
  • Conduct powerflow contingency analysis using PSSE and develop task automations using Python.
How You’re Qualified
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas
  • Driver's license
How You’ll Stand Out
  • Experience with power flow analysis, especially Dynamic Stability.
  • Proficiency in contingency analysis and Siemens PSSE.
  • Skills in power system modeling, including composite load model development.
  • Knowledge of efficient power flow and UPlan economic analysis.
  • Knowledge of power system protection and NERC Reliability Standards.
  • Proficiency in Python for task automation.
