Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science.
  • 1+ years of post-Bachelors engineering experience in the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job.
  • Driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Develops detailed design preliminary engineering scopes for electrical substation projects to improve the existing electric grid and interconnection of new load/generation facilities.
  • Investigates and analyzes problems and develops appropriate solutions with subject matter experts; drafts reports and communicates findings.
  • Coordinates project scope reviews and presents to management and others to ensure timely communication.
  • Keeps knowledge of engineering principles current and informs on safety and regulatory requirements; develops knowledge of LCRA procedures, equipment, and systems.
  • Gathers engineering information by traveling to substations, power plants, water systems, etc.

You will serve a primary role in developing detailed facility scopes to improve the existing LCRA Transmission Services Corporation’s system, as well as supporting interconnection of a dynamic and growing mix of resources on the ERCOT grid. Our ideal candidate will have proven experience in electrical substation, control, and power systems design, will strive for excellence in all areas of their work, and exemplify LCRA’s values of focusing on service, taking initiative, showing respect, operating with integrity, and focusing on safety.

How You’ll Contribute
  • Develops detailed design preliminary engineering scopes for electrical substation projects to improve the existing electric grid and/ or facilitate the interconnection of new load and generation facilities.
  • Investigates and analyzes problems and develops appropriate solutions working along with multiple subject matter experts and senior staff. Drafts reports. Receives assistance on unusual or complex features.
  • Coordinates project scope reviews between individuals and other subject areas. Ensures timely communication occurs. Develops and conducts presentations to management and others.
  • Maintains knowledge of engineering principles. Keeps informed of technical developments, industry codes, and safety and/or regulatory requirements which have impact upon the respective engineering subject areas. Fully develop knowledge of LCRA procedures, equipment, and systems.
  • Gathers engineering information by traveling independently to various locations (substations, power plants, water systems, etc.) as necessary.
  • Recommends new and improved practices and procedures related to assigned area.
How You’re Qualified
  • Bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science.
  • One or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job.
  • Driver's license
