Job summary

American Electric Power Co. is seeking a Modeling Engineer within the Ratings & Configuration team of the Transmission System Operations Engineering organization to model transmission topology and impedance for lines, stations, and transformers in internal databases, ensuring NERC compliance.

You will handle ServiceNow requests, collaborate across teams to model planned projects, and contribute to future system modeling while maintaining flexibility for non‑standard hours, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is encouraged for future PE licensure.
ABET-Engineering Accreditation Commission reference in degree requirements.

Responsibilities

Model transmission topology, impedance, and facility ratings for lines, stations, and transformers in internal databases.
Fulfill system modeling requests from Engineering and Operations via ServiceNow tickets.
Collaborate with internal/external teams to model planned projects and the future transmission system.
Perform activities related to NERC compliance standards.
