Job summary

ZF in Vernon Hills, IL is seeking a Transmission Mechanic to perform cleaning, disassembly and assembly of transmissions and valve bodies. You will work from English work instructions and use hand or pneumatic tools in a lean manufacturing environment.

Compensation ranges from $22.00 to $24.50 per hour, with a $500 sign-on bonus and benefits including paid time off, 401k and health care. Prior forklift or pallet jack experience is a plus.

Your Profile as a Transmission Mechanic

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Knowledge of hand or pneumatic tools

• Previous lean manufacturing experience helpful.

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand for extended periods of time; 60 minutes continuously up to 6 hours per 10 hour day, walk up to 2 miles per day, handle or feel objects and/or tools; operate power tools; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; bend, verbally communicate; and hear safety indicators. The associate must frequently and repetitively lift and /or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
