Job summary

PowerGrid Services in Georgia seeks a skilled lineworker for construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de-energized lines. You will set poles, maintain equipment, and work in a team to complete jobs.

This role requires physical labor and safety focus. Requirements include a High School diploma, journeyman experience with overhead/underground lines, CDL A, First Aid, CPR, and the ability to pass screenings and a physical.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Requires journeyman level experience installing and maintaining overhead and underground power lines
  • Valid CDL A is required
  • First Aid Certification is required
  • Competency in CPR and pole top rescue is required
  • Must be able to pass drug, alcohol, and background checks
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination
  • Able and willing to travel long distances on short notice
  • Able and willing to work in all types of weather environments including inclement weather
  • Able and willing to work overtime when required

Responsibilities

  • Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized conductors
  • Capable of setting poles and anchors according to safety policies and specifications
  • Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order
  • Does all other related work as required to complete the job
  • Able to perform rigorous physical labor
  • Capable of learning distribution voltages on a circuit; familiar with induced voltage
  • Capable of learning to understand and read blueprints; assist with inspecting structural problems
  • Able to work productively from an aerial device
  • Willing to function within a team environment and share knowledge with crew members
  • Able to work alone on de-energized lines; knowledge of wire stringing techniques
  • Capable of learning how to sag wire from structure or bucket
  • Assist with assembly and erect poles to all heights; framing basic line structures
  • Assist in framing de-energized pole structure in the air
  • Assist with installing compression connections
  • Capable of working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Install and inspect PPE and rubber goods
  • Climb different structures; know lineman knots and use hand lines
  • Understand proper equipment setup
  • Identify materials used in line work
  • Understand flag and tag procedures
  • Capable of basic bucket rescue/escape

  • Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary capabilities to do so.
  • Understands how to tie various lineman knots. Capable of creating and using a hand line.
  • Understands principles of proper equipment set-up.
