Job summary

City and County of San Francisco – Water Department seeks a Transmission Line Supervisor I to supervise maintenance and repair of high voltage overhead transmission and distribution lines, substations, and switchyards. You will interpret methods, coordinate crews, and ensure safety in energized and de-energized work environments.

Applicants need six years of journey-level experience with 600–230,000-volt systems and must obtain a California Class B driver’s license within six months if assigned

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Six (6) years of verifiable journey-level experience with distribution and transmission systems ranging from 600 to 230,000 volts.
• Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license; San Francisco locations require Class B within six months; some locations require Class A.
• State-certified electrical line apprenticeship can substitute for two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises maintenance and repair of high voltage overhead transmission and distribution lines and their appurtenances.
• Directs the construction, installation, maintenance and repair work under energized/de-energized conditions.
• Ensures safety precautions, tools and equipment are used when working on energized lines.
• Oversees washing of insulators, cleaning/painting of poles and transmission towers.
• Inspects lines, switchgear, transformers and auxiliary equipment for proper operation.
