Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transmission Line Senior Project Engineer to lead design teams on major power projects. You will coordinate multi-discipline design work, engage with clients, and act as a technical lead to ensure on-time, code-compliant project delivery on site.

Ideal candidates have a PE license, 10+ years in the Power Market Sector, and proficiency with PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe and Revit, plus strong MS Office skills. This full-time role is based near Glen Allen, VA.

Qualifications

• Requires PE license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., PE license).
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the Power Market Sector.
• Experience with Power Market Sector project execution is preferred.
• Proficiency with PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work of design engineers with a multidiscipline team across project development.
• Establish client relations and participate in meetings.
• Act as technical lead within a project execution team.
• Ensure code compliance in reviews with governing agencies.
• Lead schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions on-site.
• Coordinate workload to complete project deliverables on schedule.
• Work with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management.
• Direct activities of other engineering professionals and mentor staff as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Transmission Line Senior Project Engineer, we'll count on you to:

• Coordinate the work of design engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development
• Establish client relations and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings
• Assume technical lead within a project execution team
• Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
• Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
• Coordinate workload throughout the project to complete project deliverables on schedule
• Work with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as needed
• Direct the activities of other engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm
• Preference given to candidates currently residing near Glen Allen, VA

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• A minimum of 10 years of experience

Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

• Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
