Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Transmission Line Intern - Civil/Structural in Austin, TX.

You will collaborate with civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental, survey, and electrical teams to gain real-world experience on transmission projects. You will assist with design and analysis of line structures, participate in field visits, and work under supervision while developing drawings and calculations using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and PLS tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental, survey, and electrical engineering disciplines
• Offer real-world experience on exciting projects
• Participate in field visits and site investigations to understand conditions
• Connect with recent graduates and mentors through programs
• Assist with the design and analysis of transmission line structures and foundations
• Perform assignments under direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
• Develop and review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and construction documents

In the role of Transmission Line Intern- Civil/Structural, we'll count on you to:

• Coordinate with civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental, survey, and electrical engineering disciplines.
• Offer real-world experience on exciting projects
• Participate in field visits and site investigations to understand existing conditions and transmission line construction
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
• Assist with the design and analysis of transmission line structures and foundations, including drilled piers and direct-embedded structures
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
• Develop and review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and construction documents
• Use industry engineering and design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, PLS-CADD, and PLS-POLE

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural, or Environmental Engineering Degree
• Strong interest in applying civil engineering principles to real-world infrastructure projects
• Interest in infrastructure design, structural engineering, foundations, and large-scale utility projects

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
• Attention to detail
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
