Xcel Energy is offering a transmission line engineering internship based in Minneapolis. You will support civil and electrical engineers in the design and maintenance of the high voltage transmission system, complete detailed design and reviews using design software, and be based at the 414 Nicollet Mall office.

The internship runs with a May 24, 2027 start date and may extend beyond the initial term based on performance and business needs; travel to local job sites is required and a hybrid work

The transmission line engineering internship will support civil and electrical engineers in the design and maintenance of the high voltage transmission system. The position is engineering focused and includes completing detailed design and reviews utilizing design software. The position is based at our 414 Nicollet Mall office in downtown Minneapolis.

This position is for a May 24, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.

Minimum Requirements

• Current student
• Junior or higher
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering
• Ability to travel to local job sites
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Pay

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $23.10 to $24.60 per hour
