Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in the United States is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to apply knowledge of conductors, hardware, insulation, structures and electrical principles to design transmission lines from 69kV to 765kV and prepare construction sketches.

You will model lines in PLS-CADD, perform foundation and structural analyses, develop cost estimates, review vendor submittals, and collaborate in a hybrid office environment with relocation support.

Qualifications

• We require a BS or MS in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; ABET accreditation preferred.
• Experience or coursework in civil, geotechnical, strength of materials, statics, and electrical power.
• Proficiency with design tools and MS Office; strong written and verbal communication.
• FE exam completion and Engineer-in-Training status are valued.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines from 69kV to 765kV using established engineering principles.
• Prepare construction sketches for overhead and underground networks (4 kV–34 kV).
• Perform structural and foundation analyses for various pole and lattice structures.
• Model lines in PLS-CADD; assess ROW, sag calculations, and layouts.
• Develop cost estimates and procurement specifications for transmission components.
• Review vendor submittals and ensure conformance with codes.
