Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer with 2 years of transmission line design experience to join our team. You will perform engineering analyses, prepare construction packages, and utilize PLS-CADD/PLS-TOWER to support project lifecycles. Travel to client sites and field verification may be required.

Ideal candidates hold an EIT/FE certification and a Civil Engineering degree, with strong familiarity with CAD tools and NESC/ASCE standards. Remote/hybrid option with multiple US locations supported.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent
EIT or FE certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment
2 years demonstrated experience of transmission line design principles (loading criteria, structural analysis, conductor behavior, foundations)
2 years demonstrated experience with CAD or engineering design tools; familiarity with PLS-CADD strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Perform engineering analysis and design for overhead transmission lines.
Prepare construction packages including plan & profile drawings, structure selection, material specifications, and engineering calculations.
Utilize industry‑standard software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, and related tools.
Support project lifecycle activities including scope development, cost estimating, scheduling, and field support.
Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and guidelines (NESC, ASCE, company standards).
Coordinate with internal teams (siting/permitting, substation engineering, project management) and external stakeholders (contractors, vendors, regulatory bodies).
Provide engineering support during construction, including responding to RFIs and performing field verifications.
Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards.
Identify and mitigate site issues such as geotechnical conditions, access and environmental constraints and constructability challenges by providing timely technical support.
Interact with customer’s internal engineers and technical experts on a day-to‑day basis.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients.
Assists with the developing task and effort estimates for proposal support.
Works to maintain positive working relationships with peers.
Occasional travel required to other AECOM locations and Client sites.
Able to participate in field walks and create field sketches, take dimensions, climb ladders, etc. as necessary.
