Job summary

Qualus Corporation in Del Mar, CA is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join the Transmission Design Engineering team in a hybrid role. You will design and analyze overhead transmission structures from 69kV to 500kV, develop drawings and calculations, and review models in PLS-CADD.

The position requires a BS in Civil/Structural Eng, 4–6 years of related experience, E.I.T. or ability to obtain, and strong communication. Travel up to 5% and valid driver's license. Benefits included.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of statics and structural analysis.
• 4–6 years in Civil/Structural engineering, preferably electric transmission.
• Exposure to PLS-CADD or related software is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work independently and in a hybrid team environment.
• E.I.T. or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze overhead transmission structures from 69kV to 500kV.
• Develop and review design drawings and calculations for steel poles, lattice towers, and foundations.
• Develop and review transmission line models in PLS-CADD for structure loading.
• Daily use of PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, and MFAD.
• Occasional use of MathCAD, RISA 3D, Enercalc, and tnxTower.
• Review vendor submittals for steel, concrete, and micropile foundations.
• Analyze communication monopoles, lattice towers, and foundations.
• Design and analyze anchorages, connections, and custom steel assemblies.
• Follow QA/QC and sound project management practices.
