Job summary

Kids for the Future in Wolfforth, TX is hiring an Apprentice Lineman - Transmission. This entry-level role supports the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical transmission systems under supervision.

You will learn safety protocols, PPE usage, and gain hands-on experience on transmission lines, towers, and high-voltage equipment in varied outdoor conditions. A High School diploma is required; CDL is preferred but not required, with the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CDL Class A preferred but not required; license within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Transmission Line Work: Assist in construction, maintenance, and repair of transmission lines following safety protocols.
• Wire Stringing & Installation: Help string transmission wires and install poles, insulators, and related hardware.
• Tower Work: Climb and work on transmission towers with safety.
• Equipment Handling: Assist with transformers, switches, and other high-voltage equipment.
• Safety Compliance: Follow PPE, minimum approach distances, and fall protection rules.
• Grounding & Rigging: Assist grounding and rigging techniques with standard tools.
• High Voltage Work: Support work on energized systems under supervision.
• Equipment & Tool Maintenance: Maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Communication: Use radios and devices to relay information.
• Knowledge Development: Learn about transmission line materials and voltage identification.
• Basic Rescue & Emergency Response: Perform basic tower rescue and assist emergencies.
• Compliance & Inspection: Inspect PPE and safety equipment for compliance.
• Other Functions: Assist with other transmission-related tasks as needed.
