Job summary

Family of Kidz is seeking a translator/interpreter (English/Spanish) for remote, part-time hourly work with NY-related responsibilities. The role involves real-time and written translation for students and families, with confidentiality and ethical standards required.

A high school diploma and bilingual proficiency are essential, along with background checks and a current health records copy. Position offers flexibility in hours (Mon-Fri) based on service needs, with potential for full-time

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
• Strong understanding of medical and educational terminology relevant to EI and CPSE settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build rapport with diverse families and professionals.
• Background check, driving record, and valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform oral interpretation and translation for students and families whose primary language is not English during evaluations and other times as assigned.
• Provide real-time interpretation during early intervention and CPSE assessments.
• Accurately convey spoken language between English and Spanish, preserving meaning, tone and intent.
• Translate written documents, such as summaries of reports and other forms, as requested.
• Adhere to confidentiality and professional ethics in EI and CPSE settings.
• Maintain a neutral, impartial stance during interpreting assignments.

Details about this opportunity:

• Location: Remote
• (New York residents)
• Status: Part-Time, Hourly
• Hours: Monday-Friday, flexible hours (pending service needs)
• Compensation: $25/hour
• **Please note this is a range. Rates are determined by the service provided, professional experience and license/certifications held. In addition the position posted may be either full-time or fee-for-service (FFS), depending on the current caseload which will be discussed during the interview. This arrangement can vary and is subject to change.**

Qualifications:

• Highschool diploma or equivalent
• Written and verbal fluency in English and the target language(s).
• Strong understanding of medical and educational terminology relevant to early intervention and CPSE program.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build rapport with children, families, and professionals from diverse backgrounds.
• A qualifying criminal background check, driving record, and a valid driver's license required.
• Ability to provide a current copy of all required health records.
