Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Hollings Cancer Center is seeking a Research Specialist III for the Translational Science Laboratory Shared Resource core. The role involves operating complex instruments, training users, and maintaining SOPs while enabling cutting-edge research under PI direction.

The position emphasizes hands-on experience with NGS, ddPCR, and spatial profiling techniques, and requires strong documentation and teamwork in a 40-hour work week at MUSC.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS with relevant experience in biochemistry, molecular biology or related field.
• Experience with NGS and ddPCR is a plus.
• Strong genomics and molecular biology understanding required.
• Excellent troubleshooting and written/verbal communication.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform automated nucleic acid extraction, library prep for single-cell sequencing and mRNA sequencing, and ddPCR on various samples.
• Train core users and oversee activities to ensure SOP compliance.
• Track and document results; update core management platform and assist in invoicing.
• Support special projects and contribute to workflow improvements.
