Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a Staff Scientist to lead translational cancer research focused on tumor progression and therapeutic response. The role integrates molecular biology, cancer pharmacology, tumor immunology, and preclinical models to identify vulnerabilities and advance new therapies.

The incumbent will design experiments, analyze data, mentor students and postdocs, and contribute to manuscripts and grant proposals.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in cancer biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or related field with minimum of two years postdoctoral experience.
• Experience in cancer biology, molecular and cellular biology, and/or cancer pharmacology.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture, genetic manipulation, and preclinical tumor models.

Responsibilities

• Design, coordinate, and perform studies examining molecular mechanisms of cancer progression, therapeutic response, and resistance.
• Maintain and manipulate human and murine cancer cell lines and other cancer models.
• Perform molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques (Western blotting, qPCR, RNA/protein isolation, immunostaining, microscopy).
• Conduct flow cytometry and functional assays related to cancer biology and therapy.
• Analyze datasets and integrate results across platforms.
