Qualifications

• PhD or clinical doctorate (MD, PharmD, DVM) or equivalent in Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical/Biological Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of two years of related experience; five years preferred.
• Research interests in cancer with translation to early clinical trial concepts.
• Postdoctoral experience and/or clinical fellowship in pharmacokinetics used in drug development is highly desirable.
• Record of research achievements and potential for appointment at an assistant professor level or equivalent.
• Demonstrated collaboration, budgeting, and project-management skills in a laboratory setting.
• Experience in development of validated bioanalytical methods for measuring drug levels in biological samples.
• Experience measuring drug and metabolite levels in blood, tumor tissue, and animal models.

Responsibilities

• Develop and guide an applied R&D program in pharmacokinetics and biopharmaceutics aligned with DCTD scientific programs.
• Direct selection, development, and validation of bioanalytical methods for drug level quantification in blood and tissues.
• Implement validated analytical methods with appropriate turnaround times for clinical and preclinical samples.
• Characterize DMPK of anticancer compounds (ADME) and use pharmacokinetic modeling for dose optimization.
• Provide pharmacokinetic data to clinical and preclinical teams to inform dosing strategies.
• Lead studies on drug-drug interactions using in vitro CYP/UGT assays, hepatocyte profiling, and metabolism studies.
• Contribute to PK/PD relationships in early clinical trials and animal models.
• Collaborate on formulation and route of administration effects on dose-exposure.
• Act as laboratory director and spokesperson in meetings with NCI and internal teams.
• Author peer-reviewed manuscripts on laboratory findings for public-facing projects.
• Manage laboratory productivity, performance, and asset budgeting.
• Assess new technologies and recommend adoption in the lab.
