Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking a full-time Research Lab Specialist Intermediate to join a physician-scientist led group in the Division of Rheumatology. You will work on translational studies of innate immune function in autoimmune and thrombotic diseases, handling patient samples and mouse models, under supervision of senior staff.

Responsibilities include performing ELISA, culture, imaging, flow cytometry, and molecular analyses, as well as protocol development and data analysis.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in biology/biochemistry/immunology/molecular or cellular biology or related field.
  • 4-5 years hands-on research laboratory experience.
  • Able and willing to learn new experimental techniques.
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
  • 1-3 years experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments including ELISA, cell culture, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, Seahorse analyzer, western blot and qPCR.
  • Conduct IACUC-approved procedures including rodent handling, gavage, injections, blood collection and dissection.
  • Assist with development and optimization of experimental protocols.
  • Interact with animal facility personnel for lab organization and compliance.
  • Evaluate results and perform routine data analysis.
  • Operate and calibrate specialized laboratory equipment and assist others.
  • Perform literature searches and analyze content to improve research quality.
  • Co-author publications in peer-reviewed literature.
