Job Overview
Assist and support scientific investigation to study autoimmune disease as directed in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatology and Immunology;
- Independently conduct assigned experiments
- Perform a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis
- Sort and process tissue and blood samples
- Test and evaluate current procedures
- Perform routine procedures on lab animals
- Record, consolidate and assist with analysis of research results
- Assist in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
- Summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
- Prepare research progress reports
- Assist principal investigator with preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts
- Conduct library research on requested topics through researching current literature
- Oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities
- Assist with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
- Set up and operate laboratory equipment
- Monitor research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiate procurement requests as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
