Job summary

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals seeks a physician-scientist to guide translational research from lead target discovery to early clinical trials (Ph1/2) in Cambridge, MA. You will integrate medicine with human genetics data and collaborate across translational biology, clinical research, and data science to prioritize targets and biomarkers.

The role emphasizes building external relationships, trial design input, and effective scientific communication to advance RNAi-based therapeutics.

Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD with strong foundation in a subspeciality and exposure to a breadth of diseases.
• Experience translating basic science questions into translational/clinical context.
• Strong scientific communication skills: manuscripts, leadership presentations.
• Familiarity with computational biology or working with statistical genetics is a plus.
• Prior academia or industry exposure in human genetics, biomarker discovery, or therapeutic development.

Responsibilities

• Integrate medicine with human data to generate and vet therapeutic hypotheses.
• Identify early translational and clinical key opinion leaders and build external relationships.
• Evaluate scientific rationale and feasibility of indications for new targets.
• Lead early biomarker strategy across multiple programs with data science and molecular biology teams.
• Represent Translational Research across preclinical and clinical development, contributing to trial design and biomarker discovery.
