Job summary

AstraZeneca in Kendall Square, Boston, seeks a Translational Data Scientist to lead integrative analyses of single-cell and spatial omics data within Immunology. You will define AI-driven approaches to uncover disease mechanisms, biomarkers, and translational hypotheses across discovery to clinical development.

You will mentor cross-functional teams and ensure scientific rigor while applying modern AI methods to multimodal data, including immune repertoire and cytometry datasets.

Qualifications

• PhD (or equivalent) in computational biology, translational data science, bioinformatics, biostatistics or related field with 6+ years of applied experience.
• Deep Immunology and/or Cell Therapy research experience in pharma/biotech or leading academia.
• Proven single-cell omics expertise and translation of results to biology or therapeutic insights.
• Strong background in spatial omics and immune repertoire or cytometry data.
• Experience integrating multi-omics with clinical data and interpreting cross-modality evidence.
• Excellent Python/R coding, version control, and Linux/cluster/cloud environment skills.
• Proven ability to evaluate AI outputs for biological validity and translational relevance.
• Outstanding communication, collaboration, and stakeholder influencing skills.
• Independent, strategic, curious, delivery-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership across immunology, cell therapy, and translational data science teams.
• Lead integration and interpretation of large multimodal datasets with focus on single-cell and spatial omics.
• Define AI-driven analytical approaches, identify disease mechanisms and biomarkers.
• Develop translational precision medicine propositions to inform development decisions.
• Plan, run, interpret, and communicate analyses to maximize value of data assets.
• Guide evaluation and application of AI tools ensuring biological validity.
