Key Responsibilities:

Provide translation and interpretation services for guests and crew members in multiple languages, including but not limited to English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Mandarin, and Japanese.

Assist guests with language-related inquiries, requests, and concerns, including translating announcements, documents, and menus, and providing directions and recommendations in their preferred language.

Facilitate communication between guests and crew members during onboard activities, events, and excursions, ensuring that all participants can fully participate and understand the content.

Serve as a cultural ambassador for guests, providing insights into local customs, traditions, and etiquette in various regions and destinations visited during the cruise.

Collaborate with other onboard departments, including guest services, entertainment, and dining, to ensure that language-related needs and preferences are addressed and accommodated.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with guests and crew members, respecting their privacy and cultural sensitivities.

Stay informed about shipboard activities, entertainment options, and port excursions, and be prepared to provide accurate and up-to-date information to guests in multiple languages.

Assist with administrative tasks, such as document translation, language proficiency testing, and record-keeping, to support the efficient operation of the Translation Services department.

Qualifications:

Fluency in English and proficiency in at least one other language commonly spoken by our guests, such as Spanish, French, German, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, or others.

Additional language proficiency is a plus, particularly languages spoken in regions visited during our cruise itineraries.

Previous experience in translation, interpretation, or language services is preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and crew members of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Excellent listening and comprehension skills, with the ability to accurately convey meaning and intent in both spoken and written communication.

Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in a 24/7 operation onboard a cruise ship.

Attention to detail and accuracy in language usage, grammar, and vocabulary, with a commitment to delivering high-quality translation and interpretation services.
