Qualifications

• 48 undergraduate college credits, or the required ParaPro/WorkKeys score.
• 464 on the ParaPro Assessment or WorkKeys.
• Non-violent crisis intervention trained.
• Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs.
• Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, or an African Language, and/or American Sign Language.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher by reviewing, correcting and reinforcing lessons with students in all content areas.
• Assist in preparation and inventory of instructional materials and setting up learning aids and equipment.
• Supervise breakfast/lunch periods and school activities; maintain orderly classrooms.
• Assist with clerical tasks: attendance, filing, and materials cataloging.
• Participate in planning with the classroom teacher for instructional activities and events.
• Maintain open communication under supervision of the teacher/administrator.
• Maintain student confidentiality and a discrimination-free environment.
• Supervise students across environments and activities throughout the day.
• Contribute to a warm, supportive classroom atmosphere for growth and development.
• Serve as a resource for substitute teachers in the absence of the main teacher.
• Implement district/school rules and behavior plans.
