Job summary

San José Unified is seeking a Transitional Kindergarten Teacher to lay the foundation for young learners through a nurturing, play-based classroom environment. The role emphasizes social-emotional growth, early literacy and numeracy, and strong family partnerships.

You will support students in developing confidence and independence, using hands-on activities and a developmentally appropriate approach. AB-2534 compliance and strong collaboration with families are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Multiple Subject Credential with EL Authorization.
• Complete 24 ECE / child development units by the end of your second year with San José Unified.
• Have at least 12 units already completed and one year of preschool teaching experience.
• Unit requirements can be waived if you have been a full-time preschool teacher for at least one year or part-time preschool teacher for at least two years.

Job description

The impact you will have: As a Transitional Kindergarten Teacher, you will play a critical role in laying the foundation for young learners as they begin their educational journey. You will create a nurturing, play-based, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that supports students’ social-emotional growth, early literacy and numeracy skills, and curiosity about the world. Through engaging, hands-on learning experiences and strong partnerships with families, you will help students build confidence, independence, and a love of learning while inspiring them to discover their own greatness. What do you need to be qualified?

• Multiple Subject Credential with English Learner (EL) Authorization
• Completion of 24 units in ECE / child development by the end of your second year with San José Unified
