Job summary

Esperanza Cyber Charter School (ECCS) in North Philadelphia seeks a Transition Specialist to support students in transition services and postsecondary goals for the 2026-2027 year.

You will collaborate with families, postsecondary partners, and agencies to ensure successful transitions for students with disabilities, while aligning with ECCS’s mission and equity focus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • PA certification in Special Education 7-12 or School Counselor 7-12 preferred.
  • Experience in urban settings with higher ELD/SPED populations.
  • Commitment to equity and student outcomes.
  • Reliable commute to school building.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Special Education Coordinator in developing, implementing, and evaluating transition services.
  • Help prepare students for transition by providing information, training and encouraging self-determination.
  • Develop relationships with postsecondary institutions, local businesses, and other organizations to support student goals.
  • Make referrals to the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
  • Act as transition contact for administrators, teachers, parents and community partners.
  • Support staff by providing transition opportunities for students served by special education.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop curricula including transition opportunities and work skills.
  • Work with related agencies to provide information, determine eligibility, and assist with applications.
  • Partner with school counselors and postsecondary institutions to encourage students to pursue postsecondary education.

Job Description

Esperanza Cyber Charter School (ECCS) is located in North Philadelphia. ECCS has a strong commitment to teacher collaboration and support. ECCS is currently seeking mission-driven Transition Specialist applicants that align with ECCS’s mission and enthusiasm for equity for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.

Esperanza Cyber Charter School (ECCS) prepares students in grades 1 through 12 to meet the challenges of living creatively and productively in an increasingly technologically sophisticated and interconnected world. ECCS will provide students with an academically rigorous, yet flexible, online learning program that tailors learning experiences to each child through a combination of curriculum choices and virtual and in-person tutoring and counseling. Students will explore career directions that coincide with their interests and strengths beginning at the earliest ages, and will begin “majors” in particular career areas starting with the middle grades. ECCS is targeted toward underserved and at-risk students who have not always found success in traditional schools. ECCS places students on a pathway to post-secondary success.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • Special Education 7-12 or Secondary School Counselor 7-12 PA certification
  • Experience in an urban setting with high percentages of ELD and SPED students
  • A passion for education and a belief that your zip code does not dictate your destiny
  • Ability to reliably commute to building.

  • Support special education staff by providing transition opportunities for students served by special education
  • Work collaboratively with staff and teachers to develop curriculum that includes transition opportunities and work skills
  • Work collaboratively with related agencies to provide information to students and parents, determine program eligibility, and assist with application processes
  • Partner with school counselors and postsecondary education institutions to encourage students with disabilities to consider postsecondary education, make selections based on interests and preferences, and apply to the chosen institution and the Office for Students with Disabilities.
