Job summary

New Mexico Division of Vocational Rehabilitation seeks a Transition Rehab Counselor to deliver Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to students with disabilities in the assigned area. The role involves coordinating with schools, parents, and educators to support transition goals.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s in Vocational Rehabilitation or Education, and pursue a Level 1 license in rehabilitation counseling within one year. Office and school settings with travel are involved.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation or Education preferred.
• Ability to obtain Professional Education License endorsement in rehabilitation.
• Bachelor’s degree in related fields as referenced by NMAC.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to students with disabilities in assigned area.
• Coordinate transition activities within a team of student, parent/guardian, educators, and service providers.
• Develop and teach lesson plans related to independent Pre-employment transition skills.
• Counsel students in study skills, organization, self-advocacy, problem solving and related topics.
• Assist program staff in designing goals and objectives related to independent living and employment readiness.

Education

Masters in Vocational Rehabilitation or Education

Bachelor's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Sociology, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Social Work, Special Education, or related degree as referenced by NMAC

K-12 Rehabilitation Licensure Level 1, 2, or 3 endorsement
