Job summary

The Arc of Ocean County in Brick, New Jersey is seeking a Transition Services Specialist to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they build practical skills, explore employment options, and gain confidence navigating their communities.

You will provide individualized instruction, coach participants in real-world settings, and connect them with work and community opportunities while collaborating with families, employers, and partners to support each person's goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation Services, Special Education, or a closely related field.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record (five points or fewer).
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with coworkers, families, employers, and community partners.
• Flexibility to participate in community-based programming throughout Ocean County.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized instruction in employment preparation, communication, independent living, and interpersonal skills.
• Develop activities and learning opportunities that encourage confidence, responsibility, accountability, and achievement.
• Adapt teaching methods and instruction to accommodate each participant's abilities, learning style, and individual support needs.
• Encourage individuals to advocate for themselves, make personal choices, and take greater responsibility for their own goals and independence.
