Job summary

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking a Transition Services Specialist to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building practical skills, exploring employment, and navigating their communities. You will provide hands-on instruction and coaching, connecting participants with real-world opportunities and collaborating with employers, families, and partners.

This full-time role offers on-the-job training, ongoing professional development, and a supportive team environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation Services, Special Education, or a closely related field

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized instruction in employment preparation, communication, independent living, and interpersonal skills
• Develop activities and learning opportunities to encourage confidence, responsibility, accountability, and achievement
• Adapt teaching methods to accommodate each participant's abilities and learning style
• Encourage participants to advocate for themselves and take greater responsibility for goals and independence
• Support participants in volunteer opportunities, career exploration, and community-based learning activities
• Help participants practice workplace expectations, professional conduct, and effective communication
• Develop positive working relationships with employers and community organizations
• Transport participants in agency vehicles to program locations and activities
• Complete daily service records and required documentation accurately and timely
• Use positive behavior support strategies and adjust as needs change
