Job summary

City of Galveston is hiring a Bus Service Attendant II. The role supports the transit system by assisting mechanics, cleaning and fueling vehicles, and performing grounds maintenance at transit facilities.

You will interact with the public and City staff, upholding confidential and professional standards. Candidates must have a High School diploma or equivalent and one year of auto maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; and one year of basic automotive/motorized equipment maintenance and repair experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possession of a valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to mechanic staff as needed.
• Cleans vehicles; refuels vehicles; checks fluid levels.
• Performs general building and grounds cleaning, including transit buildings and bus stops.
• Certified to operate rail trolleys and conducts road service calls on rail trolleys.
• Conducts road service calls to provide replacement vehicles for vehicles in need of servicing.
• Represents City of Galveston with courtesy and cooperation when interacting with the public and City staff.
• May be required to work to ensure safety and vital services in emergencies.
