Job summary

LA Metro is seeking a professional engineer to support projects and ensure compliance with Metro standards, directives and project objectives. The role involves preparing plans, coordinating with consultants, overseeing contractor work, and writing SOWs.

The candidate will review technical data, maintain records, and communicate with internal staff and external partners to meet project goals. A CA PE license is desirable; a valid CA driver license is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or related field; Master's Degree preferred.
Three years of relevant engineering experience in the assigned discipline.
CA Professional Engineer registration desirable; CA driver license or equivalent transportation.

Responsibilities

Prepare workplans, drawings, safety guidelines, maintenance requirements, training requirements, specifications, estimates, and operational needs within Metro standards.
Review data and drawings, negotiate changes with vendors; coordinate with technical consultants on drawings.
Oversee contractor work for schedule and budget; inspect completed work.
Write Scope of Work (SOW) for each project; respond to service requests to improve or repair designs.
Represent Metro with construction/engineering/supplier community; interview users to understand needs.
