Job summary
Ben Franklin Transit is seeking a skilled Fleet Electronics Technician to test, diagnose, and repair electronic and electrical systems across revenue and support vehicles. The role covers maintenance of surveillance, communications, CAD/AVL, TSP, and mobile data systems, with opportunities to work on gas, diesel, hybrid, and battery electric vehicles.
The technician will install and configure onboard technology, troubleshoot issues, and help maintain documentation and parts inventories."
Qualifications
- Knowledge of analog and digital electronic circuits and diagnostic techniques.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and diagrams.
- Experience with onboard vehicle electronic systems and diagnostics.
Responsibilities
- Test, diagnose, and repair electronic and electrical components on revenue and support vehicles.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on surveillance and communications systems.
- Install vehicle technology systems and configure onboard hardware/software.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
- Inspect and document installation and operation of new systems.
- Maintain records and assist in evaluating new vehicle technologies.
