Job summary

King County Metro Transit seeks a Transportation Planner III to coordinate system impacts for electric trolley buses and lead related projects. The role blends planning and operations, requiring cross-team collaboration and strong stakeholder communication.

You will work with Seattle and private partners, prepare alerts, and ensure timely delivery of project milestones while promoting equity and safety in transit operations.

Qualifications

• Experience managing and coordinating projects and/or processes.
• Demonstrated project management skills, including ability to prioritize project activities.
• Critical thinking skills related to construction and/or project management, process improvement, and continuous improvement.
• Experience in Transit Operations, Transportation Planning Construction or project management, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Experience managing and coordinating competing stakeholders' project and processes.
• Ability to communicate clearly to diverse audiences and work with varied stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Work with City of Seattle and private contractors to manage projects that impact Metro's Electric Trolley Bus System.
• Coordinate changes between planning, operations, and external partners as needed.
• Coordinate with Metro Transit Vehicle Maintenance on impacts to allocations and service areas.
• Lead work teams toward objectives, assign tasks, and resolve conflicts.
• Prepare rider alerts regarding trolley bus system impacts as required.
• Attend weekly Service Impacts meetings and respond to questions about construction affecting service.
• Ensure ordinance compliance issues are resolved promptly and maintain detailed action records.
