Job summary

RailWorks Corporation in New York, NY seeks a Signal Systems Engineer to design, implement, and enhance train control and signaling systems for rail and transit projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and on-time delivery.

The role requires a BS in Engineering, 5+ years in rail signaling, experience with track circuits, interlocking logic, and AutoCAD/Bentley/MicroStation; knowledge of NY area projects is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5+ years in rail transit signaling and train control systems.
• Knowledge of track circuit functionality in signaling.
• Experience with automatic block signaling design and implementation.
• Understanding of signaling principles (approach locking, time locking, route locking).
• Familiar with interlocking operations and track circuit integration.
• Ability to design, test, and validate safety-critical signaling systems and logic.
• Experience with Vital Logic Software (VLS) or Vital Harmon Logic Controllers (VHLC) and related interlockings.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with Bentley/MicroStation, REVIT, or SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, and commission fixed block and automatic block signaling systems.
• Review, modify, and validate vital logic software for performance.
• Develop functional and detailed signal system designs for rail infrastructure.
• Implement and verify signal control solutions for complex transit environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and construction teams.
• Document analyses and testing activities for design validation.
