Job summary

WSP is seeking a CBTC System Engineer in New York to act as the technical authority for CBTC design, integration, and validation. You will ensure compliance with contract requirements, industry standards, and NYCT operations, guiding system architectures and interfaces across all program phases.

The role requires deep CBTC hardware/software knowledge, extensive systems engineering experience, and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable rail operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of post-education experience in engineering and rail design.
• Deep CBTC architecture knowledge including vital/non-vital subsystems.
• Experience with requirements management tools and configuration control.
• Minimum 5 years CBTC project experience.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership of CBTC design and implementation, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Evaluate system architecture decisions for CBTC subsystems and interfaces.
• Collaborate on requirements traceability and validation across subsystems.
• Review supplier/design deliverables for technical completeness and standard alignment.
• Coordinate with NYCT operations and safety stakeholders for maintainability and interoperability.
• Support development of System Integration Plan, ICDs, and verification/validation docs.
• Track design maturity, changes, and milestones; report progress to the agency.
