DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) is seeking a seasoned scheduling and operations leader to oversee the planning and execution of bus and rail timetables. You will manage a professional staff of schedule analysts and ensure cost-effective utilization of manpower and revenue vehicles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning/Engineering, Public Administration, Business or related field.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in transit operations and scheduling, with at least three (3) years of experience supervising transit scheduling personnel.
  • Pass a physical (medical) examination that includes a drug screen to operate DART non-revenue vehicles.
  • Knowledge of budget development/analysis, and operational cost factors.
  • Proficiency of PC software applications to include Microsoft Office or other related software applications.
  • Analytical and creative skills to find solutions to complex interpersonal, technical and administrative problems.
  • Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles.
  • Ability to step up to conflicts and resolve them with minimum noise.
  • Ability to blend people into teams and foster morale.
  • Ability to provide challenging tasks and development discussions.
  • Ability to scope length and difficulty of tasks, set objectives and schedules.
  • Ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems.
  • Ability to read complex materials and technical manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and oversees all staff and data collection to support scheduling of equipment and manpower.
  • Oversees implementation, maintenance, and daily use of computer scheduling systems for bus/rail schedules and rosters.
  • Manages production of scheduling databases for information and payroll management.
  • Produces operator route guides and detailed operating instructions for Transportation Department.
  • Analyzes schedules to ensure on-time performance and cost effectiveness.
  • Develops schedule modifications for new routes and services to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Directs and evaluates staff performance and budgets.
  • Prepares technical reports and project correspondence.
  • Keeps current on industry trends, methods, and technology.
  • Presents project performance to management and monitors budgets.
